Southern Hospitality
Room 103...
The Highland Inn makes my top pick for a small motel in the entire US of A.
The Owner Sam, greeted me last night with a smile. What he didn't know (despite his incredibly personable nature) was that I had a belly full of picante sauce... And I write allot of reviews.
It feels better than home. Much better.
I traveled the country and lived out of hotels and motels, and one thing that always excites me, is good service.
The coffee is hot, the reception warm, and the room clean. What more can you want? It's called "hospitality" which is a term that may confuse and bewilder the entire service industry. If you are in need of a example of what great service looks like, get a room at the Highland, Sam can show you how it's done.
The other customers were equally as friendly, and courteous. Good customer interactions are what create good atmosphere, in a way that isn't artificial. It's natural, even organic.
The wifi works quite well, and from what I can attest to so far, it is the best deal in Alpine, TX maybe even the country, I don't recall a lower price anywhere.
What really caught me off guard was when I made a payment. And he asked me if the price was fair...
Never in my life has anyone bothered to ask me that question.
And yes, Sam. It is fair, it's more than fair.
The place is great to relax, and get some writing done.
I get the peaceful, easy feeling that only this place has given me so far.
Great motel, excellent price, clean (non-smoking) rooms, fantastic service.
Best lodging in America, that I have seen so far.
