WIX: Website hosting review.
I am not the most tech savvy "uber-l33t" nerd of the web. I rarely spend much time in anyone's basement, especially since I haven't seen my mother in, well... years.
I have be known to be very athletic, and I am as certain as I can be that my genetics essentially bar me from being as computer savvy as I would like.
Enter WIX.com, and it suddenly becomes less of a problem that god smiled on me in a few ways that I am grateful for, but tech...not so much.
It was still a bit of a learning curve, it takes a little time to sort out the way the system works. But, if I can do it, I'm sure that almost anyone can. There are great looking templates for everything, and yet when you add your own text and pictures, it almost feels like it was you doing the whole thing, all by yourself. Building a wix site is gratifying, but not without some really irritating things that don't seem that big a deal at face value, but become a real pisser when you face them. Hence the whiskey bottle image at the top, frankly sometimes wix makes me want to crawl into an alcoholic isolation chamber after smashing my computer to pieces.
Royal pain in my ass number # 1
Getting google adsense to work on my website.
No amount of google searching or help files satisfy my information gap in getting this SOB to function. The HTML editor is elusive, I cannot seem to locate it anywhere.
Leading me to:
Supernova of bullshit problem number # 2
They have no customer service number. Got a problem that the help files can't answer? "Tough shit cowboy, go F---- yourself!" Is what I imagine the singular person, who happens to be a middle aged Asian woman that works for wix is saying to me.
Minor problem 3.
You cannot add or change the color templates or the color of text . As far as I know after using this service for 6 months, and modifying or otherwise screwing with my website a minimum of once a day, I have not found a way to do it. "BIG DEAL!", the Asian lady at wix is saying as she blows air on her freshly painted nails...
It isn't a huge deal, but, when text appears across your image, in white only, and because the image you want is light colored the text becomes unreadable...
Is it a deal breaker, nope. I still love WIX.
Wix, if you are reading this, could you PM me or something and tell me how this sunofabitchin adsense works?
Thanks.
